That’s right folks! Robert Griffin III has sold the most jerseys in the NFL this fiscal year than any jersey in league history according to Darren Rovell.

RGIII wanted his Twitter fans to know that he's not going to jeopardize his future to make his Week 1 availability a reality.

Robert Griffin III and Adidas are building an ad campaign around the slogan “All in for Week 1.” But Griffin wanted his Twitter fans to know that he’s not going to jeopardize his future to make his Week 1 availability a reality.

“Feel like I need to say this..Although my goal is to start Week 1, that doesn’t mean I will compromise my career to do so,” Griffin wrote. “Starting Week 1 will be the result of healing, hard work, dedication & God’s anointing. No rush, just determination.

Feel like I need to say this..Although my goal is to start Week 1, that doesn’t mean I will compromise my career to do so.

— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) February 19, 2013

I’m glad RGIII is taking it slow and is already considering not playing week 1 of the 2013 NFL season. He already risked it playing in the Redskins playoff game last season and I think what Adrian Peterson did is still an anomaly even with the advances in sports medicine. I wouldn’t worry too much about RGIII ‘Skins fans. He’ll be back but I’d be more concerned the defense and if Brian Orakpo can stay on the field and contribute.

A little more than a month since Robert Griffin III underwent reconstructive knee surgery, Washington Redskins officials are encouraged enough with his recovery to believe he has a legitimate chance to start in the 2013 opener.

A little more than a month since Robert Griffin III underwent reconstructive knee surgery, Washington Redskins officials are encouraged enough with his recovery to believe he has a legitimate chance to start in the 2013 opener.

Adam Schefter reports the Redskins know there still is a long way to go, and they’re hardly going to rush Griffin. But they also know that based on what they’ve seen so far that it is well within the realm of possibility that Griffin will be the team’s starting quarterback in Week 1.

I think the Redskins should be very careful and bring Griffin along at a slow pace. What Adrian Peterson did to comeback I would say is an anomaly and the Redskins could risk their franchise putting him out on the field too early. Nevertheless, it will be great to see RGIII back for the opener, just glad this time it won’t be the Saints that he’s playing.

The loss 24-14 loss and elimination from the playoffs weren't the biggest loses for the Redskins on Sunday. Redskins QB Robert Griffin III star may have suffered at least partial tears of two ligaments according to an MRI exam according to the Washington Post.

The loss 24-14 loss and elimination from the playoffs weren’t the biggest loses for the Redskins on Sunday. Redskins QB Robert Griffin III star may have suffered at least partial tears of two ligaments according to an MRI exam according to the Washington Post. The NFL miracle Doctor James Andrews will examine today to attempt to determine whether the MRI results show new injuries to Griffin’s anterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments, or previous injuries.

Much has been said of Head Coach Mike Shanahan keeping Griffin III after he was clearly not effective for 2.5 quarters, which ultimately led to the injury. Some like Houston Texan RB Derrick argued via twitter that Shanahan should be fired but Griffin III after the game said “I don’t feel like me being out there hurt the team in any way.”

As far as recovery, according to James C. Dreese, a physician for the University of Maryland athletic teams, said that if Griffin requires reconstructive surgery on his ACL, his rehabilitation would take six to nine months. If the LCL or medial collateral ligament also require reconstruction, that could add as much as two months to the process.

Dreese also said that because this would be Griffin’s second ACL reconstruction, the rehab could be slower than it was the first time. “Usually they go a little bit slower the second time, especially if there’s a lateral issue as well,” Dreese said.

Griffin III doesn’t have to look far for inspiration as Adrian Peterson came back after injuring ACL last season but every injury is different. As an NFL fan I hope his recovery is quick because RGIII is one of those players that make football exciting to watch.
