Two college students from SSU (Savannah State University) posted a YouTube video of themselves breaking into the Superdome to watch the Super Bowl.

I’ll give it to these two guys. They did what they needed to do to get in the Superdome but remember the game is to be sold and not told. Hopefully they can use the views to generate some revenue. I can also expect for this NOT to work next time because they told the world how to do it. NFL Spokesperson Greg Aiello told USA Today that “NFL security is conducting a review and following up with the appropriate authorities in New Orleans.” Hopefully these guys don’t suffer any consequences because they just wanted to see a game.

Thanks to PFZ

The cause the Super Bowl Blackout has been revealed.

Nola.com reports that the cause of Sunday’s Super Bowl blackout was due to an electrical relay device.

The utility company, Entergy said the device “was specifically installed to protect the Mercedes-Benz Superdome equipment in the event of a cable failure between the switchgear and the stadium.”

A statement from the company said: “While the relay functioned without issue during a number of high-profile events — including the New Orleans Bowl, the New Orleans Saints-Carolina Panthers game, and the Sugar Bowl — during Sunday’s game, the relay device triggered, signaling a switch to open when it should not have, causing the partial outage.

“This device has since been removed from service and new replacement equipment is being evaluated.”

Well there you have it, a device built to stop power failure actually caused the power failure. While some will say this hurts New Orleans chances for hosting the 2018 Super Bowl, I don’t think it will as this year showed that New Orleans is one of if not the best place to host America’s single biggest game.

Former NFL vice president of officiating Mike Pereira and the go to guy for calls on TV and Twitter said the correct call was made on the 4th and Goal call in Super Bowl XLVII.

Former NFL vice president of officiating Mike Pereira and the go to guy for calls on TV and Twitter said the correct call was made on the 4th and Goal call in Super Bowl XLVII.

It’s a play that 49ers fans will question forever but according to Pereira the correct call or no call was made.

“Both players were hand fighting and when you look at this play in real time, there’s not enough to call pass interference against either player. Smith had a quick grab and Crabtree had a quick push-off. Smith went down on the play and the pass fell incomplete.

Crabtree never complained and it’s the type of play where a flag thrown against either team would have, in my mind, created more controversy than a decision not to throw the flag.

By the way, it couldn’t be defensive holding because the pass was in the air when the contact occurred. It’s either offensive pass interference or defensive pass interference.

It was not an obvious foul and until I looked at it in slow motion, it seemed like no foul at all. It’s not a penalty I would want called if I were still VP of Officiating for the NFL”

Well there you have it. I know that won’t satisfy the 49ers fans but I respect Pereira’s opinion. After looking at the video over and over again, I’m still not sure the pass was catchable. On the bright side 49ers fans, your team is solid and should be in contention next year.
