Well it didn’t take Titus Young long to rub the Rams the wrong way. Rob Parker, reports the St. Louis Rams will cut ties with Titus Young 10 days after claiming the troubled wide receiver off waivers from the Detroit Lions. The Rams and Young’s agent have declined to comment so that probably means its more fact than fiction that young will be released.
Parker’s sources went as far as saying Young might not play football again, which suggests deeper problems off the field. The Detroit News reported last month that the Lions had pleaded with Young to seek help for serious emotional and mental issues. At this time, there are no details on Young’s falling out with the Rams.
If the word has spread around the rest of the NFL, Young’s days of playing might be over. He not making his case any better when people think you have serious emotional and mental issues. But to be rumored to be released even before camp stats says something.
Michael Smith couldn’t have said it better:
UPDATE: The Rams have officially released Titus Young!
Here is the statement released by Head Coach Jeff Fisher:
“We saw Titus as an outstanding young player. We did not do any background research as far as contacting anybody at Detroit. We are all about trying to improve this roster. We felt like by claiming Titus we would have the opportunity to spend a good deal of time with him. We did so…as an organization at the end of the interview process, let’s call it, we decided it was best for us to go a different direction. We feel like perhaps Titus is better suited for another organization. We just felt he was not the best option for us at that position. He’s an outstanding young talent and we are going to wish him well.”
